About Us
Our Purpose
The Alsworth Foundation was formed by Glen Alsworth Sr and Glen Alsworth Jr in 2016 in response to the fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD) epidemic in Alaska. We are dedicated to raising awareness of the effects of FASD, educating the youth of Alaska about the importance of abstinence from alcohol while pregnant, and by doing so helping to protect future generations from the impacts of FASD
What We Do
Sports play a large role in the lives of young Alaskans. That is why the Alsworth Foundation hosts the Big Mountain Volleyball Tournament in Port Alsworth, Alaska every fall. Each of the teams that attends the tournament come from remote villages, so the only way to get to the tournament is by small aircraft. The money donated to the Alsworth Foundation goes towards covering the airfare for these traveling teams, brining in guest speakers, as well as providing material about FASD for the athletes. It is our hope that the athletes who come to the Big Mountain Tournament will take the knowledge they have learned and share it with those in their villages.
